AFOE - cover

I have completed a major revision and tightening of the entire draft and it is currently in the hands of “early readers.”

Thanks so much to all of the early readers who have already read portions of my novel and provided valuable comments.

Here’s my first draft of a book jacket description. Your comments are welcome  …

A FLOOD OF EVIL

Do you believe it’s impossible for another Hitler-like menace to emerge in Europe or the United States? Actually, there are conditions today that provide frightening parallels to those in the Weimar Republic in the 1920s and early 1930s. It is important for all of us to understand how Hitler came to power, how his rise could have been stopped, and who chose not to oppose him.

Lewis Weinstein has written a bone-chilling novel that explores these issues through the eyes of two young people, one a German Catholic and the other a Polish Jew, who were extraordinarily positioned to understand what was happening as they worked with powerful people in both countries who sought to keep Hitler from power.

Berthold Becker was drawn into the Nazi orbit because his older brother was viewed as a martyr who had saved Hitler’s life in the 1923 Putsch attempt. He sees the leaders of the Nazi world from the inside.

Anna Gorska leaves her Polish shtetl and becomes an internationally respected journalist with access to the powerful.

Berthold and Anna fall in love and work together in a dangerous and ultimately futile quest to keep Hitler from power.

A FLOOD OF EVIL takes place in the years from 1923 to 1933, from the beginnings of the Nazi Party to Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor.
